Just wanted to share some new art by Tyler Jenkins. News in the next few weeks on the next version of Rekill (think interactive, think motion)… in the meantime, hope you like this.
www.Nawlz.com is the creation of Australian artist Sutu, supported by a small handful of global collaborators. Jawbone.tv met with Sutu on several occasions, finally chronicling the creator’s unique approach to storytelling and the technical process of creating an interactive comic (read What’s Next for Interactive Cyberpunk Comic ‘The Nawlz’?). He was also good enough to create this three-part overview tutorial video on the making of the project.
When we first caught a glimpse of Hail the Villain’s new website for their album Population: Declining we got downright giddy. That was soon replaced by slight disappointment, while still awarding points for style, effort, and difficulty. Re the style and effort… The site is wrapped in a graphic novel inspired interactive shell, with nicely rendered and relatively seamless 3D action that comes across as a blend between Jam3’s Autopsy and a Marvel comic. The difficulty comes in telling an engaging story while promoting a band. The site promises “hate, lust, deceit and redemption” with the user uncovering clues that reveal character and backstory, but although a narrative exists, it seems overshadowed by the extremely cool but nonetheless disruptive bells and whistles required of a band fan site. Toronto based Grand and Run Entertainment collaborated on this, and both should hold heads high for the work, which impressively brought home a recent FWA Award (further solidifying Toronto as a legitimate hotbed of interactive development… go, Canada). We’d like to see the same creative teams get a crack at something where the story is the product. Either way, well worth a visit, and tip of the hat to the band for giving it a go as well. Curious to see how deep the story goes. Check it for yourself at www.hailthevillain.com.

As promised now that we hit 5,000 supporters, the Rekill teaser comic ‘The Particle Void’ is online for all. You can read it in our art section or download the PDF (18 Megs). Please share it with everyone, and don’t forget to show your support at http://www.facebook.com/rekill.

Well, again, the response to Rekill is astonishing. Looks like we’re going to break the 5,000 supporters mark less than two months after launch. That’s 30K per year. Madness, considering we haven’t done much active promoting yet (that comes next month). Our preview issue, The Particle Void, will be released in the first week of April, so hopefully that will be enjoyed by our supporters and encourage them to spread the word even further. Robert Fiene (one of our Facebook supporters) suggested maybe creating some posters that fans could circulate. I like that idea … will probably chop a few of those out after the preview is released. Anyway, keep pushing, and keep spreading the word … thanks for the support!
